WHo WE Are
We are a group of friends who handcraft leather and waxed canvas goods in Asheville, NC! Started in 2008 in Southern Illinois, we moved to Asheville in 2011, and our current converted warehouse in 2017. Since then, the team has changed from a one-woman show (founder Mary Lynn Schroeder) to our current team of WNC residents and whichever of their dogs and children are running around on any given day!

Hello all! I've been with In Blue since 2023 and I enjoy collecting crystals, house plants, and tarot cards entirely too much (my home is starting to resemble a witchy shop in the jungle). I love yoga, the outdoors, craft beer, tiki, and living in the mountains of WNC with my partner and very best friend, Dave. We share our home with one adorable rescue rabbit named Luna, who is full of treats and sass.

Just trying to be a rad dad! Becoming a father to my two littles, Nathan and Evelyn, has been a great adventure with my amazing wife, Rachel. In my off time, I spend as much time as I can with family and friends. I try to be out in the woods as much as possible, enjoying hiking and backpacking.
Fun Fact: I’ve been at In Blue the longest of the current team, and when I'm not helping make the bags and accessories, you can find me behind the camera for all our product and lifestyle shots.
What We Believe
In Blue Handmade has been around for 19 years! Starting in Southern Illinois, with a big move to Asheville, NC in 2011. We have transitioned over the years greatly, most recently to becoming a full time print shop. Post Hurricane Helene, which brough a 40 foot flood to our beautiful town, we restructured and had to reinvent. Everyday we catch up more and learn, with our now tiny team of 3. We are grateful to you for helping us rebuild and recover as we navigate these wild times and strive to keep pursuing our dream of handmade goodness! We believe in slow fashion- made to order, made in the USA, and made with LOVE.
Our Process
We handmake every item we sell ourselves in our Asheville, NC studio. Our 6500-square-foot converted warehouse is full of our shop dogs (rescue pups who come to work with us!), a fun hardworking team, and plenty of fizzy water. Post Hurricane, we work with three other maker groups in our space who lost their studios in the storm. Our warehouse is full of ideas, love, and made to order hustle.
